Abstract

The essay deals with the extent to which three novels and one story convincingly portrays the development of the youth group of the Edelweiss Pirates from a non-conformist youth group to an active and militant resistance against National Socialism. These literary texts belong to the category of socially critical and problem-oriented youth literature. The essay also deals with the extent to which real political events are properly integrated into the flow of literary texts. In the conclusions, the literary texts are assessed as successful examples that have succeeded in contributing to the rehabilitation of an almost forgotten and often underestimated youth resistance against National Socialism.
